sophomore album. exit moe to pursue other interests, enter mike dougherty (quick aside: technically, mike re-enters here. he was the original drummer when we first got together, but had to quit to care for his newborn daughter. who is a teenager now, i guess. jesus.)
recorded on the roland 1880 again, this time knowing a little bit better how to use it. or at least thinking we did. we tracked all over the place: bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, the famed 4th & gill birdhouse, the studio, the little shed next to the studio... seriously, it was bonkers. and it took a long time, for which we were rightfully ridiculed by our friends and peers, some of whom were kind enough to participate in the madness.
when we finally wrapped tracking, we took it all to don coffey jr at independent recorders studio and dumped it 2 tracks at a time into his daw setup, where we mixed it with him. the staggering tedium he suffered on our behalf placed us forever in his debt. a 4-star mensch, that man.
